American agriculture is in crisis, and to date systems have not been put in place to sustain agricultural communities and family farms. This series – The Future of Agriculture in a Time of Crisis – will provide analysis of the current agricultural crisis and insight into real solutions that will not only help farmers today but assist in preventing an agricultural crisis like this from happening again. The series will feature agricultural leaders who worked firsthand in the farm financial crisis of the 1980s, former USDA officials, and more.
Part 1: On Shaky Ground: Why the Farm Crisis Matters and How to Stop It
Understanding today’s farm crisis is not only imperative to keeping farmers farming but has direct ties to mitigating climate change and creating a sustainable agricultural industry in the United States. This foundational session grounds the crisis in hard data, giving grantmakers and impact investors a clear view of current agricultural economics, farm bankruptcy trends, and shifting safety nets. Join us to analyze the current landscape and identify where funder intervention is needed most.
This series is open to all funders. We encourage participation in all three sessions, but this is not required. By signing up for one part, you will be automatically added to all three. Registration & speakers coming soon!
