Commitment to Racial Justice

The U.S. food and agriculture system is built on historic and modern-day inequities and systemic racism that result in devastating, disproportionate, and ongoing harm and exclusion of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. Sustainable Agriculture and Food System Funders (SAFSF), as a network of philanthropists and investors committed to equity, has the responsibility to be an advocate for change, an ally to impacted communities, and an accomplice in dismantling racism. We commit to aligning our words with action. We commit to doing the hard work at the individual, organizational, community, and policy levels so that our future looks different than our past and our present.

Our commitment to racial equity and justice is a living practice for learning, action, and accountability. In 2024, we are developing a framework and action plan to embody our values and commitment to equity and justice, and we invite our members and partners to join us in codifying commitments into action and transformative practice.
